An Elongated Face for Portrait and Botanical Subjects

The oval combines a longer central axis with curved ends, giving upright subjects a different boundary from a circle or square. In a portrait or single-stem botanical painting, the composition can follow the long axis while the outline narrows around the top and bottom. This avoids the four corner areas of a rectangular surface. For a horizontal composition, the same relationship works along the wider axis, keeping the subject within a continuous curved perimeter.

Single-Color Printing That Establishes the Composition

The printed image provides the initial lines on cotton canvas without fixing all of the colors used in the finished work. During a lesson focused on painting rather than drawing, participants can begin from the existing composition instead of transferring a separate sketch. The printed starting point also allows several color treatments of the same subject to be developed across a class or coordinated craft range, with the outline providing continuity between the individual pieces.

A 1.5 cm Profile from Painting Through Display

The canvas is mounted on a 1.5 cm MDF support, preserving the oval format as a complete physical piece throughout the project. When the finished painting leaves the worktable, the fabric does not need to be cut from a loose sheet or stretched over a different backing. Its original support remains in place. For related paintings displayed together, the shared depth keeps the side profile consistent while the oval dimensions and printed subjects provide the differences between individual pieces

Custom production begins with the required width and height, an artwork file and any reference for the intended oval proportions. Meihe develops the image within the actual viewing outline, accounting for the reduced space toward each curved end. A portrait, botanical study or decorative border is positioned as an oval composition rather than simply cropped from a rectangular layout. The selected illustration is reproduced through single-color printing and combined with the prepared frame during canvas mounting. A completed sample presents the image scale and assembled shape together, while the packaging artwork carries the private-label identity and product information for the selected version.

Raw canvas and frame components undergo in-house inspection before processing. The fabric is assessed for its specified construction, surface consistency and visible damage, while support components are checked before defects become concealed by the canvas. The order specification and approved sample define the finished appearance, including the printed design, so appearance acceptance remains tied to the supplied reference.

Semi-finished inspection covers cut-edge condition, assembled connections and fastener seating. After stretching, the long and short axes of the oval are assessed as part of contour verification, with particular attention to distortion at the curved ends. Rear gathering must not create tears or pulled folds, and the front painting surface is examined for puckering and local sagging rather than checked only at its center.

Each completed frame receives a 100% inspection before packing. Product identification, finished configuration and the packing requirements are verified for the order. Nonconforming units are isolated for correction or replacement and return for a further check before release. Inspection findings and corrective actions remain associated with the production lot, and third-party pre-shipment inspection is accepted.
